Searching For Motorcycle Insurance?

A

Motorcycle Insurance is pleased to help you look for great motorcycle insurance that suits your needs. There are a variety of companies that provide motorcycle insurance, and many people will just search by price without looking at what the contract includes. So we have listed some tips to help you think about what is important to you in a motorcycle contract.

Important points for motorcycle insurance to consider:

1. Agreed or Market value?

Do you want insurance that offers you a choice between the two insurance or one that just tells you it is agreed or market value.

    • Agreed value – means that you insure the bike for a certain amount and therefore will get a certain agreed value in the event of total loss or damage. It can be good if you have invested in the bike and made modifications that make it more valuable then usual
    • Market value – insurance gives you a price that the company determines at the time of the total loss or damage based on the market at the time.

    2. Does it have the option of “Low usage rates”?

Some people may only use their bike occasionally as it is not the main form of transport. Some companies will give you the option to tell them how often you use it and give you a lower premium.

      3. Does it give you a choice of repairer?

You may well know someone that you trust that you want to do the repairs, not every company gives you this option. Will they also appoint a qualified assessor to mange repairs?

        4. What other cover is included?

Will it also cover your riding gear, for you and a passenger for accident or theft? Different companies will cover you for different amounts so check this out if it is important to you.

          5. What about Modified Bikes?

Some companies will consider modified bikes and some wont. Make sure you are aware of what modifications are allowed otherwise you may pay the insurance and then get nothing back when you make a claim.

            6. Do they offer multi vehicle discounts?

Chances are you have a few bikes or a car and a bike.

              7. Excess and Age limits

What sort of excess to they have and is this based on the age of the rider. Make sure you look at these and know what it is for your policy just in case someone else asks to ride it, or you need someone else to ride it.

                8. Replacement vehicle?

Will they give you another form of transport to use while yours is getting repairs. This may not be important if you have another bike or car, however if it is your only mode of transport, then it may be something to consider.

                  9. Does it include Legal liability?

Does this cover damage to other people’s property and damage to other people?

Motorcycle insurance is very important, and so are the things that are included in the insurance policy. So make sure you compare more then just the price.
